The MÜHLE Shaving Culture: A Legacy of Craftsmanship and Innovation

The MÜHLE story began in 1945, when Otto Johannes Müller founded the business after returning from the war. He started by making the first shaving brushes and designing the iconic MÜHLE signet. In 1965, Hans-Jürgen Müller took over the company, which had grown to 40 employees, and expanded its exports to 36 countries.

However, in 1972, under pressure from the German Democratic Republic, Hans-Jürgen Müller was forced to sell the company, and MÜHLE became a state-owned enterprise. In 1987, the business was rebranded and only manufactured brushes for the state, while Hans-Jürgen Müller became a self-employed brush maker.

The turning point came in 1990, when the new Europe emerged, and Hans-Jürgen Müller regained the family business, which he traded as Hans-Jürgen Müller KG, keeping the MÜHLE signet. The company struggled to survive after reunification, but little by little, it won new customers and rehired former employees.

In 2006, the MÜHLE brand came to the fore, and the company expanded its offering to a full range of wet shaving goods, marking the dawn of a new era.

Today, MÜHLE razors, brushes, and accessories are used by shaving enthusiasts worldwide. Designed and manufactured in Germany, the MÜHLE Shaving Culture is committed to maintaining the high standards, dedication, and pioneering developments of the past, as it continues to educate the ritual of the best wet shave.
